Context - of communication: work meeting, hospital, classroom, etc.

Relationship - of the people communicating: employer/employee, parent/child, siblings, etc.

Form or Medium - Verbal, nonverbal, written, etc.

Purpose or Goal - of the communication: persuasion, informing, etc.

Characteristics - of the communicators: gender, age, culture, etc.

The words you use to describe these can help you find information relevant to your topic.
